This lovely alpine daphne needs well-drained soil and sun or part shade.  This is a low growing, ground-covering daphne which has the typical fragrant scented pink flowers in early spring.  It's leaves are dark green and glossy.  Hardy enough for a moderate winter - perhaps a light covering of straw through bad winter weather, but it does need the air around it, so don't suffocate it and leave as open to the air as possible.  Although snow does protect things from the frost, it can also suffocate plants if left for too long, so don't forget it through bad winters.
