Directions
Directions for visiting Spinneywell Nursery by appointment only. Please read carefully before travelling.
Spinneywell Nursery does not have general open hours, but you are welcome to visit us while we are working if you make an appointment with Wendy. There will be no pressure to buy but Wendy will need to be on site while you browse, buy or discuss your requirements. We are a working growers nursery, stocking landscape quality plants.
We are not a retail garden centre and do not have toilets or refreshments so please plan your visit accordingly. The 'Butchers Arms' is the nearest pub, just half a mile away in Oakridge, and there are plenty of others in the area. Nursery paths are uneven and often slippery so please wear suitable footwear, wellies being ideal. Waterproofs and umbrellas are recommended on wet days as there is nowhere to shelter.
We have nursery open days on the odd occasion which are featured on our events page. If you are on our current email list you will be notified of such. However, we mainly sell through our website nowadays and deliver via courier direct to door.
Website and telephone orders may be collected directly from the nursery providing an appointment has been made with Wendy, to ensure there is someone on site who can help.
Large plant orders or specimens can be delivered either in house, by Chris our trusted man in a van or by crate. Please ask for a quote.
Thank you.
Please note: the nursery is not visible from the road.
Please use the farm entrance and park on the left as you drive in.
Please drive carefully. No loose dogs please.
Directions From Stroud / Cheltenham
Starting in Bisley with the Stirrup Cup public house on your right hand side, take the centre-left hand fork, heading towards Waterlane / Oakridge / Eastcombe.
Take the first left-hand turn that you come to, about 200 yards. Continue along the road into Waterlane, sign-posted. As you reach the bottom of the dippy turn right at the minor cross-roads.
Drive up the steep pitch and over the brow of the hill. As the road levels off you will find us on the right-hand side.
Please use the farm entrance and park on the left as you drive in.
Cars, Vans & Small Lorries From Cirencester
Follow the Stroud road on past Bathurst Saw Mills. Take the next right hand turn, sign-posted to Sapperton / Bisley. Follow the road to the Daneway public house.
Turn left up the steep pitch immediately after the Daneway. Drive on through the woods up until you see the sign for Waterlane. Take the first left-hand turn after this sign. The road is very bumpy.
At the end of the road turn left at the junction — do not drive up the farm track which is also very left.
Drive 150 / 200 yards up the road. We are the next property on the right.
Please use the farm entrance.
Lorries / Artics From Cirencester
Heading for Stroud on the A419, you need to get yourself as far as Aston Down airfield. There is a good place for drivers to rest opposite the airfield.
Providing that we know a delivery is on its way, minimum 24 hours notice, it is possible to meet artics at this point to unload, as the rest of the journey will involve fairly narrow country roads.
If you are in a smaller lorry or car, continue in the same direction heading for Stroud as before. Continue until you reach a pub called The King & Castle, which is on the right hand side before the turning and bus stop on the right hand side.
Take this right-hand turn after the pub, sign-posted Eastcombe / Bisley / Bussage. This is commonly known as 'Toadsmoor' Road but not sign posted as such.
Drive up Toadsmoor Hill, past the houses, up the steep hill, through the traffic lights, past Thomas Keble school on your right-hand side at the top. You are now in Eastcombe.
Continue on the same road for half a mile or so until you reach a sweeping left-hand bend. You will see a house directly opposite you.
In front of this house, turn right, incorrectly sign-posted Plessela / Bisley. Follow the lanes for a couple of miles until you reach a minor cross-roads. Turn left here, sign-posted Butchers Arms, and take the next left also.
This road leads into the village of Waterlane. Half a mile down this road, we are the first property on the left-hand side. Please use the farm entrance and park on the left as you drive in.
Directions From Stroud
On the London road leading out of Stroud head for Brimscombe. At Brimscombe corner, as it is commonly known, you will see a pull in on your left-hand side and a row of shops and a carpet centre opposite on the corner.
Drive past all this on the main road and take the next left sign-posted Bisley / Eastcombe after the bus stop on the left hand side.
Drive all the way to the top of the hill, past the houses, up the steep hill, through the traffic lights, past Eastcombe’s Thomas Keble Comprehensive on your right at the top.
Continue along this road for half a mile or so heading for Bisley. As the main road takes a fairly sharp left bend, you will see a house directly in front of you. Turn right in front of this house. This has been incorrectly sign-posted Bisley / Plessela. Follow the lanes for a mile or two until you reach a minor crossroads.
Turn left here, sign-posted Butchers Arms, and take the next left also. This leads you to the village of Waterlane. We are the first property on the left. Please use the farm entrance and park on the left as you drive in.
