Canes emerge green, turning golden orange and then rich reddish-brown when more mature. Canes form a dense clump and are clothed with slender green leaves which are evergreen. Bamboos tend to look a bit jaded through very cold weather as the cold winds tend to 'burn' the leaves if they are in strong winds. The new canes that emerge in the spring bring fresh lush foliage. Ht 1.5m x 4m spread. If you wish to control the spread of this bamboo, plant it into a container and then into the ground. This particular bamboo is good for narrow borders or a hedge/screen.
