Strongly aromatic shrub with grey-green foliage, growing between 60-80cm tall. Bears lovely white fowers, tinted blue in summer which are irresistable to bees. This evergreen variety can also be used as hedging, giving structure to the garden. Prefers light, free-draining soil in an open sunny position. Lavender benefits from being cut back hard after flowering to maintain its shape. The flowers are often harvested for their essential oil which can be used in many home remedies. Lavender has insect repellent properties (including moths), and infusions can ease headaches and encourage restfulness.
