Brief description:
Portuguese laurel. Much more civilized than common laurel. More moderate growth, combined with the smaller leaf this makes a very dense screening plant. Can also be grown as a single specimen, as it is always nice and dark green, and flowers during June. Creamy-white scented flowers a bit like the bird cherry appear early summer, followed by small fruits which turn black.. Eventual height 15-20ft. The pointed leaves are glossy, dark green with red stalks. This variety should not be planted too deeply as they are shallow rooted, and the soil around them should not be cultivated too often or too deeply as they dislike this disturbance around their root system.
