Attractive shrub with lovely black foliage which is deeply divided into fingers, giving it an 'airy' look and providing a good foil for blues, silvers, reds, etc.   Very gardenworthy plant.  Sambucus do not like to dry out too much during hot weather, so requires a deep, moist soil that is well drained but does not dry out altogether.  Will grow to approx 240cms (8ft) if left unpruned, but can be pruned back to fit into smaller spaces.
